Dick Wright began his career drawing ushers at church and spending too much time doodling in school. Wright remains very active in church work. He helped start a new church in northern Virginia and continues to be active as an adult Sunday school teacher and church leader. He has been the editorial cartoonist of the Columbus Dispatch since 1996, beginning his cartooning career in 1974. In the past, he has worked on the West and East coasts, for the San Diego Union and the Providence Journal, respectively. His cartoons, syndicated by United Feature Syndicate, have been featured in many editions of Pelican's Best Editorial Cartoons of the Year series.
