Sullivan, James Francis (1853 - 1936)

James Sullivan was the son of the artist Michael Sullivan ARCA. While studying at the South Kensington Schools he started to contribute strip cartoons to Fun (Tom Hood’s rival to Punch.), working for that magazine for 30 years (1871 – 1901). He then drew for the Strand Magazine and other journals such as Cassell’s, Lady’s Pictorial, Pearsons and Punch amongst others. Sullivan often worked under the pseudonym ‘Jassef’.
