Educated at Shrewsbury School, where he was a contemporary of Richard Ingrams, Willie Rushton began drawing cartoons for The Salopian. After National Service he started illustrating children’s books and contributing cartoons to Tribune. In 1961 he was a co-founder of the satirical magazine Private Eye. Rushton produced cartoons, caricatures and illustrations for many publications including the Oldie, Punch, the Daily Telegraph and the Literary Review. He acted in films and appeared regularly on TV and radio shows such as That Was The Week That Was, Jackanory and I’m Sorry I Haven’t A Clue.
