Martin Rowson’s first published cartoons, ‘Scenes from the Lives of the Great Socialists’, appeared in the New Statesman in 1982. Rowson was appointed ‘Cartoonist Laureate’ of London when Ken Livingstone was Mayor, and his cartoons appeared in the Mayor's newsletter, The Londoner. Who's Who lists his interests as ‘cooking, drinking, ranting, atheism, zoos, collecting taxidermy’ Rowson contributes regularly to The Guardian, Spectator, and the Mirror.
