The Political Cartoon of the Year Awards were held on 3 December 2019 at the Ellwood Atfield Gallery in Smith Square SW1. Our usual venue at St John's Church was unavailable due to to the forthcoming general election. The Independent’s Dave Brown was Political Cartoonist of the Year and was awarded the David Low Trophy. Peter Brookes was Political Cartoonist of the Year runner-up and received the Strube wooden spoon. Rebecca Hendin won the Political Cartoon of the Year Award. Hendin was the first female political cartoonist to win an award in Britain for her cartoon in the Guardian. Jeremy Banks won Pocket Cartoonist of the Year and Zoom Rockman won Pocket Cartoon of the Year. The awards were presented by father of the house, Kenneth Clarke MP and Kate Hoey MP.
